It's no surprise that Amazon snagged the top spot on our list, but that's not the full story. The e-commerce giant stepped up its Black Friday game last year, offering almost twice as many Editors' Choice deals as the next store on our list. If you're not going to shop around, shop at Amazon.
The downside is many of Amazon's bargains are short-lived Lightning Deals. Our advice is to keep an eye on upcoming Lightning Deals listed on the site or in the app. You can even use the app to get notified when deals are about to go live
Walmart: 92 Editors' Choice Deals
Best For: Anyone shopping for toys.
During Black Friday week last year, Walmart offered more deals — and more Editors' Choice deals — than anyone besides Amazon.
Hottest Deals: The one area where Walmart really competed with Amazon? Toys. Although Amazon had far more Editors' Choice deals in general, Walmart had more Editors' Choice toy deals than the online shopping behemoth, and about three-fourths as many toy deals overall. Deep discounts on staples like LEGO as well as trending toys ensured that many looked to Walmart as they checked off their holiday shopping lists.
Best Buy: 66 Editors' Choice Deals
Best For: Electronics shoppers — especially those who like to plan ahead.
Best Buy may not have as many deals as Amazon or Walmart, but it's consistently an excellent store for electronics deals; almost two-thirds of the Best Buy deals we posted from Black Friday 2017 and 2016 were Editors' Choice picks.
eBay: 56 Editors' Choice Deals
Best For: Anyone who enjoys browsing eBay's grab bag of bargains.
While eBay is less of a store and more of a marketplace, it can't be ignored as a place to find excellent Black Friday deals.
When you shop at eBay, remember to double-check the condition of items before you click buy. Some of eBay's best deals will be on refurbished or open-box products. Though this might be exactly what you want, be sure you know what you're paying for.
Kohl's: 47 Editors' Choice Deals
Best For: Anyone who doesn't mind getting their savings in Kohl's Cash.
If you don't mind the idea of sales coming with a credit, rather than an actual discount, Kohl's has great deals on clothing and home goods, and even a few high-end electronics offers.
Dell: 47 Editors' Choice Deals
Best For: Shoppers looking for a new computer.
Although these deals were split between a few storefronts — Dell Home, Dell Small Business, and Dell Refurbished — Dell offered as many Editors' Choice deals as Kohl's, and most of them were for laptops and PCs. That makes Dell a must-check retailer for computer shoppers. One caveat: Many of their best deals came with a bundled Dell gift card. That might not be as attractive to those who rarely purchase large electronics.
